How can I register for classes?Go to our "Official Registration" page under the "Register" tab for further registration instructions.

How will classes work during the COVID-19 pandemic?Classes will be online and will be held over Zoom.

What is the cost of taking chess classes at FEMchess?Our goal is to make chess easily accessible for all girls interested in learning. There is no cost for taking classes at FEMchess. All FEMchess officers and coaches are volunteers. However, if you are able, we’d appreciate a small donation to cover our operating costs. The highly suggested donation is $50/Term. There will be 10 classes in each section.

What is the class format?We strictly give group lessons with around 4-8 students per class and one coach.

What ages are applicable to join?We accept girls from age 5-17.

What is the commitment expected from students?They should expect around 8-12 homework problems from their coach each class which are expected to be completed by next class. There will also be tests held to assess progress and allow students to move up levels if necessary.

How and who will be teaching classes?Classes will be taught using tools like Lichess, chesskid.com, and chess.com just to name a few. Info on our coaches who will be teaching the students can be found on the general coaches tab as well as our head coaches who can be found under the "About" tab.

How much experience do you have to have in playing chess to register?Anyone with any amount of experience can join. This includes children who have zero experience with chess as well as children who are already well versed in chess and have played competitively for a long time.
